"WOW LG" stands for "World of Wireless," which is what LGE hopes to create. With LGE rising to the world's No. 5 spot last year, the portal site aims to bring total wire and wireless added value to mobile phone customers in the process boosting the LG brand image among potential customers.
As a global major player in digital appliances, LGE supplied 24 million mobile phones on the global market last year and consequently solidified its position. The company has recently launched its mobile phone service portal site designed to provide its overseas customers with a variety of wire and wireless contents. This is in line with wireless multimedia trends and is aimed at further satisfying customers; thus becoming the talk of the industry.
Unlike other service portal sites, the "WOW LG" portal allows customers to access services directly from a mobile phone and a personal computer, thereby enhancing their convenience. Configured in an optimized user interface, the portal allows user menus to vary according to customer mobile phone information and apply automatically. In particular, "WOW LG" initially allow European mobile phone purchasers to access varying cultural contents in five languages including English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish; hence upgrading services geared toward region-specific demand.
"WOW LG" provides "My Mobile," personalized service menus such as SMS and downloads box functions. The portal offers polyphonic tones adopted from the hottest hits in the nation and animation wallpaper fitting the size of the mobile phone LCD. Likewise, it can edit photo images of PC and a digital camera and use them as wallpaper. The portal also allows customers to play fun & exciting European Games, enjoy 3D images, and download manuals & software.
By offering customer benefit programs via wire and wireless linkage services, "WOW LG" is expected to trigger a highly favorable response from European customers.
"The launching of 'WOW LG' in Europe is only the beginning. Aside from Europe, we will gradually launch a global service portal site for both GSM and CDMA standards," said Jae Hoon Bae, Executive Vice President for Overseas Marketing Division of Telecommunication Equipment & Handset company of LGE.
Alongside the holding of a ceremony for launching the "WOW LG" portal site, LGE will install a zone for ring tone/graphics, photo, video, and games in CeBIT 2004 fair in Hanover, Germany on March 18-24. This "WOW LG" booth will allow European customers to have a hands-on experience. The company will give away gifts to participants during the event.
"The days are gone when mobile phone makers only used to sell and offer warranties. The WOW LG portal differentiates LGE from competitors, seeking to foster pride among LG mobile phone purchasers in using LG products and make them loyal LG customers," said Mun Hwa Park, President of Telecommunication Equipment & Handset company of LGE.
