LG Electronics is set to boost its global brand position when it introduces sophisticated flat panel display (FPD) and mobile devices at the CeBIT 2004, the world's largest fair in multimedia electronics and information units.

At the CeBIT 2004 in Hanover, Germany, where IT firms worldwide are participating, LGE (Vice Chairman and CEO: S. S. Kim/www.lge.com) will demonstrate its world-class technologies and sophisticated designs in Consumer Electronics and information and telecommunications devices, such as PDP¡?s, LCD's and other display products, dual-band 3G mobile phones that are GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA-compatible, and high-performance camera phones.

At the 2,530 square exhibition booth (including a 2025 square meters DDM hall and a 505 square meters information and telecommunications hall), which is 150% larger than last year's exhibition booth, LGE will showcase 30-plus products, such as 76-inch PDP and 55-inch LCD TV¡?s, full lineup of FPD's, as well as W-CDMA and asynchronous IMT-2000 handsets that are GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA-compatible. Thus, the company will prove its technological prowess in major products, such as handsets, display, and media, including its innovative designs.

In particular, in the Digital Display Media (DDM) hall, LGE will display a full lineup of FPD's, such as 76-inch PDP and 55-inch LCD TV's, to boost its global position in this area. The company will demonstrate convenience through the LnCP (living network control protocol), its very own home networking protocol.

In addition, in the information and telecommunications hall, LGE will introduce dual-band 3G mobile handsets that are GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA-compatible as its technologies are continually developing existing single-mode devices. This allows LGE to demonstrate its third-generation technological prowess in mobile handsets. The company will also unveil 1.3 million-pixel, high-performance camera phones, 270 degree-rotating LCD-screen camera phones, and other high-performance GSM mobile handsets.

Park Mun-hwa, president of LGE's Telecommunication Equipment & Handset Company, said, "CeBIT is the festival of technologies and IT marketing not only for Europe but also for the rest of the world. As we demonstrate our sophisticated technological prowess and product and design power in handsets, FPD's, and media, we will endeavor to enhance our global brand recognition and maximize sales in Europe."

- Digital Display Media (DDM) Hall

At the 2025 square meters Digital Display Media (DDM) hall, LGE showcases a full lineup of FPD's, such as 76-inch PDP and 55-inch LCD TV's, to boost its global position, demonstrating total solutions designed to meet a wide variety of the market's display needs. The company will introduce its new technological products and innovative product designs; thus publicizing its capabilities and commitment to R&D and innovative designs.

During the fair, the global electronics giant is set to showcase its home networking systems. Likewise, LGE will demonstrate handy and comfortable lifestyles through the LnCP (living network control protocol), its very own home networking protocol.

Visitors at the fair can experience for themselves how an air conditioner, a washing machine, or a microwave oven can link with each other through a Web browser or a mobile phone, which is made possible by LGE's home networking technologies.
In particular, LGE's Internet refrigerator will serve as the network's control center, the home appliance that operates 24 hours a day. As such, it will serve as the center of communications and entertainment services.

Moreover, applying the world's first picture quality improvement technology, the FLATRON f Engine and the DAFI (Digital Adaptive Fine Image), LGE will unveil 30-plus new products, such as 42-inch LCD monitors with drastically enhanced picture quality and real-sense mobile imaging and tablet monitors.

Conveniently located in an expanded space for buyers, dealers, and other customers, LGE will drive consulting for exports.

- Information and Telecommunications Hall

In the 505 square meters information and telecommunications hall, LGE will showcase 30-plus products, such as GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA-compatible dual band handsets.

In the fair, LGE will unveil dual-band mobile phones (models: LG-U8150) with a 2.2-inch, 260,000-pixel color TFT-LCD and a high-performance 300,000-pixel (VGA) built-in camera.

These models allow compatibility for European-type WCDMA services for second- and third-generation handsets, and they are fit for sophisticated mobile multimedia environments. These dual-folder mobile handsets support third-generation high-speed data services, such as mobile imaging communications, VOD (Video On Demand), and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service), and they are equipped with zoom and continuous shooting functions.

In addition, LGE will unveil 1.3 million-pixel, high-performance camera phones, 270-degree rotating LCD camera phones, and other high-performance GSM handsets.

The intenna style 1.3 million-pixel high-performance camera phones, which adopts a 262K color main TFT-LCD and 65K color sub TFT-LCD, offers VOD service.

The 270-degree rotating LCD camera phone (model: LG-G7200) allows free rotation up to 270 degrees and video recording and adopts an external LCD loaded with an organic EL. It allows mobile image recording, playback and receiving/transmitting mobile images via video MMS.

Meanwhile, in response to the pilot and commercial services of domestic and foreign WCDMA service operators, LGE is poised to lead the third-generation mobile phone market by developing its handsets' networking systems.
